Peter Jackson’s iconic Lord of The Rings trilogy is returning to cinemas in July 2024… however, this time the series will be BIGGER than ever!

For the first time, extended and remastered versions of each film will be shown on the big screen. All three films in the series, The Fellowship Of The Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King were originally remastered in 2020 and were re-released in 4K Ultra HD.
Now, these remastered versions will also include added footage, more scenes, and extra dialogue, adding more insight into the characters and future plot points.
At this stage, this exciting new drop has been reported by US news sites, confirming that the trilogy will be screening at participating US theatres, however, one Australian cinema has announced a special event screen of the 4K extended editions.
The Ritz Cinema located in Randwick, New South Wales, will hold a special event on July 27, 2024, where they will show the 4K extended editions of The Lord of The Rings trilogy, all in one day. The event will run from 10:30 am to 11:30 pm with 20-minute breaks between each movie.
Though this appears to be the only Australian cinema to bring the extended series to the big screen at this stage… we anticipate further confirmation from other cinemas very soon.
