For Marcus, 33, appearing on reality TV was something he has wanted for years. “Before I met Aimee and moved to Sydney, I went on a binge of applying for everything to find love,” the Perth native tells New Idea.
“I went through Married at First Sight, The Bachelor and I did auditions and all that stuff. I was nearly on Sophie Monks’ [Bachelorette] season.”
Of course, he admits that was all before he met the girl of his dreams. “When I met Aimee, I wasn’t interested in anything like that.”
Despite finding love with Aimee, 29, the couple have had their ups and downs and even decided to take some time out from their relationship. But, the couple struggled to make the split permanent.
“We actually had a split at the start of last year,” Marcus says. “Things weren’t working, and we didn’t know what we wanted. Aimee decided to venture out and see what else was out there, but she and I were still hanging out.”
The couple knew that if they wanted to be together for good, they had to sort out their problems, but going into The Super Switch, Marcus blamed Aimee for everything that had gone wrong.
“I kind of went into it thinking it was all Aimee and I’m a perfect saint,” admits Marcus.
“I thought [making Aimee do] something like this would make her see what she is like. I remember saying, ‘I wish a camera would follow us so I could play back the moments: did you hear what you just said? Did you see how you spoke to me?’”
But, could the experiment make Marcus take a look at his own actions in the relationship?
