The Queen shares a giggle with strapping rugby player at garden party

The beaming royal couldn't wipe the smile off her face!

Queen Elizabeth II has enjoyed a giggle with a very strapping former Scottish rugby player on Wednesday at a Garden Party as part of Holyrood Week.

Currently traveling through Scotland, Her Majesty is celebrating Scottish culture, achievement and community. On day three of the festivities at Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, the 92-year-old monarch met thousands of guest at a Garden Party. 

One of those guests included Doddie Weir, a former rugby player, who described meeting the Queen as ‘pretty special’ .

Weir later said of the meeting: ‘She gave a bit of a giggle when I said I didn’t have success over England.’

‘To meet her Majesty is pretty special, the knees are still knocking a bit to be fair.’

For the rest of the week, the Queen will continue her tour of Scotland, where she will take part in a number of regional Scottish engagements.

In previous years this has included a visit to a housing development for disabled veterans, the opening of a Technology and Innovation Centre at The University of Strathclyde and a visit to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow.

Prince William is also currently traveling in Scotland.
