According to an Express.co.uk article, the family feared the actress would overshadow Pippa at their family wedding in May 2017.
Meghan and Harry had been dating since 2016, however it was still early days for their relationship – they didn’t make their first official public appearance together until September 2017.
And while Pippa famously made heads turn at her sister Kate’s 2011 nuptials to Prince William, she wanted all eyes on her for her big day.
According to the Express, a source told The Sun in December 2018: “Meghan faced some opposition from the Middleton family, who didn’t want to invite her to Pippa’s wedding last May.
“They feared Meghan’s first public appearance with Prince Harry would overshadow the bride’s big day.”
Meghan didn’t attend the church ceremony, which was attended by Prince Harry, as well as Prince William, Kate, and their children George and Charlotte, who were all part of the wedding party.
It was reported that Meghan did, however, attend the evening reception party.
Meghan and Harry’s own love story moved quickly after their first official appearance together at the Invictus Games in September 2017.
The couple announced their engagement in November that same year, and were then married in May 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
The Duke and Duchess announced Meghan’s pregnancy in October 2018, and on May 6, 2019 baby Archie Harrison was born.
