After Kensington Palace’s repeated denials about the existence of a raging royal rift between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle fell on deaf ears, the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex are putting rumours to bed dual-handedly by joining forces for a very special event on March 5.
The wives of Windsor are preparing for a gala reception to mark the 50th anniversary of the investiture of the Prince of Wales, hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
The event recognises Prince Charles’ service to Wales and – perhaps most notably – marks the first time Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have been seen together in 74 days.

The Queen, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Anne, Princess Royal will all attend the reception.
Kate and Meghan’s last public appearance together was on December 25 when they attended Christmas Day service at the Church of St Mary Magdalene Her Majesty’s Sandringham estate with their spouses Prince William and Prince Harry.
On arrival at the chapel Express UK‘s body language expert Judi James declared there appeared to be a “breaking of body language tradition in terms of performing an emphatic public display of affection to quash any ideas of trouble behind the scenes, rather than ignoring the stories and making it business as usual”.
The eagled-eyed analyst also noted the “last time a royal couple was told to perform togetherness body language rituals was Charles and Diana on their final royal tour together”.
Kate Middleton, Prince William, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were once dubbed the “fab foursome”, but rumours of tension between the royal sisters-in-law and a rift between the brothers have plagued the palace since late last year.
According to royal commentator and former Sunday Express editor Martin Townsend, the rumours that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are feuding are really just a clever ploy to distract the public from the real feud – between their husbands, Express.co.uk reports.
Speculation of a feud mounted when the Duchess of Cambridge was notably absent from Meghan’s lavish New York baby shower earlier this month, skipping the festivities in favour of a family holiday with Prince William and their three children at an upscale French ski resort.
Kate’s most recent engagement was a two-day tour of Northern Ireland where she wowed in a variety of elegant ensembles including a Cinderella blue Mulberry coat.
Earlier this week Meghan and Harry returned from a whistle stop tour of Morocco, the last overseas engagement for the royal couple before the imminent birth of Baby Sussex in April.
The Duchess was resplendent and culturally on-trend in a billowing blue printed kaftan from Carolina Herrera.
