The Duchess of Sussex has come under fire following a birthday message she left for Princess Charlotte on Instagram.
Kensington Palace recently released three adorable photos of the fourth-in-line to the throne to mark her fourth birthday on May 2. And while fans were quick to comment on the photographs taken by proud mum, Kate Middleton, they also noticed a Meghan had left a special little note, too.
“Happy Birthday Charlotte. Loves of love, H and M xo,” read a comment posted by @sussexroyal
However, the comment, which fans believe was written by the Duchess of Sussex herself, has caused outrage because Meghan did not refer to her niece as “Princess Charlotte.”
“Even on Kensington Royal she is referred to as Princess Charlotte. Meghan is just being disrespectful like she was to Prince Louis,” one fan wrote.
“Even if they are related through Harry, she needs to call her Princess if other Royals call her that. This isn’t because they’re related, it’s respect,” another added.
One woman continued: “That’s Princess Charlotte to you.”
Rumours have been swirling that Meghan, who is due to give birth any day now, is control of her and Prince Harry’s Instagram account ever since it was launched last month.
In April, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also commented on new photos of Prince Louis which were released to mark his first birthday.
“Happy Birthday Louis! Sending loves of love from both of us xo,” it read.
