TIP: We used McCormick Grill Mates Tennessee Smokehouse BBQ Rub but any smoky rub would be suitable. Sandwich stackers are long cut pickled cucumber slices, available from the condiment aisle in supermarkets. Replace with burger pickles, if preferred.

Heat an oiled, large, non-stick frying pan over high heat. Add onion and garlic. Cook, stirring for 3 minutes, or until soft, Add beef. Cook, stirring to break up mince for about 5 minutes, or until browned. Stir in rub and stock. Bring to boil.
Pour into a round ovenproof dish (10-cup capacity). Scatter over pasta. Stir in passata. Cover tightly with foil.
Cook in a moderate oven (180C) for 40 minutes, or until pasta is just tender.
Remove foil. Stir in half the cheese. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Return to same oven for a further 10 to 15 minutes, or until cheese is golden.
Serve with lettuce and Sandwich Stackers. Drizzle with burger sauce.
