“I ruptured my patella tendon, so my kneecap was halfway up my leg, playing basketball,” he says.
“After that I got a bit heavy, I was carrying a lot of weight. I was 115 kilos, that’s quite heavy for my height. I thought I just have to do something. I lost about 20 kilos or so.”
The Melbourne dad says he woke at 5am to exercise.
“I did a lot of boxing and weight training,” he says.“I love it, it’s my escape. One of the things I’ve missed a lot on the show is being able to jump up and go to the gym.”
Meanwhile, Tim’s half-brother Mat, 27, says he has never really struggled with his weight before.
“I’ve always been pretty consistent,” the chippie says.
“I keep my diet reasonably healthy when I can. I don’t go to the gym or anything.
“I’m a big golfer – I love golf, so that’s the thing I’ve probably missed. But other than that, I used to play footy, but I don’t play that anymore.”
