Before marrying Meghan Markle, Prince Harry had hoped to wed another woman – according to shock claims.
In the 2014 ITV documentary “Prince Harry at 30” royal biographer Chris Hutchins talked about the Duke’s previous relationships – in particular his ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas.
“She is the most suitable person he has ever had in his life,” Mr Hutchins revealed.
“Cressida’s love for Harry came not from the fact he was the Queen’s grandson. She wasn’t interested in that – she comes from a very grant ancestry herself.”
Mr Hutchins continued: “The fly in the ointment was he would have married her for sure by now, but she had no wishes to be a princess.”
Harry and Cressida were introduced to each other by Princess Eugenie in 2012. After just two years of dating, the couple called it quits. It is understood that Cressida found all the media attention overwhelming.
“Cressida had been ‘completely spooked’ while watching TV coverage of William, Kate and George touring New Zealand and Australia that spring. There was no way she wanted that sort of attention and she told Harry so,” royal biographer Katie Nicholl told The Sun at the time.
“Harry suffered a real blow when she said ‘I can’t do this.’ I think she really broke his heart. Twice Harry had been left heartbroken because the women he had fallen in love with didn’t want to share the life he had been born into,” she added.
