Playing For Keeps: Meet your new TV obsession

Keep up with the WAGS.

Behind every successful AFL player, there’s a glamorous WAG…at least that’s the case in new Network Ten drama Playing for Keeps, which follows the ups and downs of the fictional Southern Jets, and the wives and girlfriends of the team members.

The established better halves are played by Madeleine West (as the coach’s wife), Olympia Valance, Annie Maynard and Isabella Giovinazzo, while Cecelia Peters stars as Paige, a new addition to the WAG ranks thanks to her boyfriend, Daniel (George Pullar), who’s just been recruited to the team.

Country girl Paige navigates a whole new world of exclusive parties and minor celebrity, and although the other women seem to welcome her with open, designer-clad arms, she sticks out like a sore thumb.

Meanwhile, rookie player Daniel is thrust into a team environment that’s rife with fierce rivalries and massive secrets. Will the young couple be able to fit in?

Playing for Keeps also stars Jeremy Lindsay Taylor as Coach Rickards and former Home and Away actor Jackson Gallagher as the Jets’ captain, Connor Marrello. “The thing with this show is expect the unexpected,” Gallagher told WHO magazine.
