Some families buy each other gifts. Some go on picnics.
And in Shay Mitchell’s family, they apparently prank each other!

The actress welcomed a beautiful baby girl earlier in the month – her first child with longtime partner Matte Babel – but has recently released footage of a prank she played on her dad in the days leading up to the birth.
The Pretty Little Liars star uploaded a video to her YouTube channel entitled: ‘The Labor Prank My Dad Didn’t Want You to See’ – and it has had fans all over the world in stitches!
“My dad just got here a little while ago and I feel like now is the perfect time to do a little pranking session on him, because he always gets me,” shared the star.
“And so I feel like now would be the perfect time to tell him I’m going into labour. Even though I’m not.”
Tipping water on the floor of the bathroom to make it look as if her water had broken, Shay called out for her partner, sounding decidedly distressed. Matte and Shay’s dad came running (obviously).
“I have to take this, I have to take these,” she said in panicked tones, piling her dad’s arms up with bags, clothes and other items that she definitely would not ‘need’ in the hospital.
And he still didn’t catch on that something was amiss when she told him to get the dog’s things!
“You can’t bring her to the hospital!” her dad insisted.
Not surprisingly, it got to the point where Shay and Matte couldn’t maintain straight faces any longer, the pair bursting into laughter as Shay’s dad asked which hospital they were going to.
“I need to test that you know what we’re doing,” Shay laughed as she sat on the floor surrounded by bags of ‘essentials’.
“You’re such an ass,” he replied, grinning. “I was totally punked!”
Matte and Shay came under fire recently after the pair left their daughter at home while they attended Drake’s 33rd birthday party.
“I understand parents need a night out once in a while, but days after giving birth??” one person wrote.
