Rapper Kidd Creole has been charged with second-degree murder over the fatal stabbing of a homeless man, ABC News has confirmed.
Police report that the star – who shot to fame as one of the founders of the legendary group Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five – used a steak knife to stab the victim twice in the chest and once in the head in New York City on Tuesday.
He was allegedly reacting to being called a gay slur.
The 1970’s music icon had been working as a midnight security guard at a building near where the incident took place.
The victim was found on the sidewalk and later died at a local hospital.
He has since been identified as 55-year-old registered sex offender John Jolly.
This isn’t the first time that Kidd Creole has found himself in trouble with the law.
The 57-year old was arrested in 2007 for possession of a gravity knife and also had three other arrests dating back to the 1980’s.
