Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – now the Duchess of Sussex – arrived at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach on Friday Oct. 19, where they met the public.
Hundreds of people packed onto Bondi Beach on a murky day in Sydney to see Harry and Meghan.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met OneWave, a local surfing community group, and took part in a session called Fluro Friday.
Members of the group wore colourful leis for the session which encourages discussion of mental health issues.
The couple were given leis and both Harry and Meghan took off their shoes as they stepped onto the sand.
Meghan wore a dress by Australian designer Martin Grant which fashion expert Donny Galella estimated to cost more than $2000.
“She chose this stripe maxi dress from Martin grant resort collection 2019, it really suits the beach vibes and bold vertical stripes are really trending at the moment,” Donny told New Idea.
He pointed out that Meghan was also wearing “a sensible wedge” shoe.
The crowd cheered as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived.
One sign held by a member of the crowd said: “Happy Fluro Friday Harry and Meghan. Well worth the flight from Brisbane and the 3.30 alarm.
“Please make my dreams come true. Meghan, come say g’day.”
Harry and Meghan watched a yoga session before moving on to meet members of the public at Bondi Beach.
Four lifeguards – stars of TV show Bondi Rescue – are also waiting for their chance to meet royalty.
Harry and Meghan have already hit the beach in Melbourne and visited farmers in Dubbo as part of their 16-day tour to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.
In the afternoon, the couple will climb Sydney Harbour Bridge alongside Invictus competitors to raise the flag for the games.
Their last engagements of the day will be meetings with Bill Shorten, leader of the opposition, and Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
