A newborn baby has been found alive in a shopping bag in woodland in Georgia, in the United States.

Authorities are searching for the mother of the newborn, who was found on June 6.
The baby, who has been named India and is said to be thriving, was found by officers after a member of the public heard her crying in the woods.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office released the footage from the body camera of the officer who found the baby girl in the hope it will help find the baby’s mother.
In the footage, the deputies are seen crouching next to the newborn who’s been left inside a plastic bag.
The baby girl is seen stained with blood from the birth and still has her umbilical chord attached to her navel.
“Look how precious you are,” one officer says, while another wraps the baby in cloth.
Almost three weeks later, baby India is “thriving” and is now in the care of Georgia Department of Family and Children Services.
