Meghan Markle has been advised to drink raspberry tea, eat six dates a day and use clary sage oil to help induce labour.

“There is a small amount of science that supports the idea that raspberry leaf tea is a uterine toner,” Katharine Graves, a hypnobirthing teacher told The Sun.

“This means it will be beneficial post-natally in terms of regaining muscle tone down below.”

The former Suits actress has also been encouraged to eat plenty of dates.

“The protein released from eating them mimics the natural protein released by the baby, and there is evidence that eating them from week 36 can help women go into labour slightly sooner and slightly more dilated,” says Katharine.

Last on the list is clary sage oil.

“The essential oil is recommended because it can stimulate surges – or contractions,” says Katharine.

A source also revealed that the Duchess of Sussex’s mother Doria Ragland “will be encouraging Meg to go for a natural birth”.

Meghan and Harry are due to welcome their first born in April.
