WATCH: Masked Singer Knight revealed as Ryan Moloney

The Knight

Marking the first celebrity to be unmasked in the new season of the wild series, it was Neighbours star Ryan Moloney – aka Jarrod ‘Toadfish’ Rebecchi from Neighbours – who was revealed to be the voice behind the Knight after belting out a rendition of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Bad Habits’.

Despite some solid guesses from most of the panel, none of the judges managed to pick that the longtime Neighbours star was the man behind the mask.

After being given the hint that the Knight was “the closest thing Australia has to true royalty,” Chrissie Swan, Mel B, Abbie Chatfield and Dave Hughes were left stunned over the reveal, with their guesses having ranged from David Hasselhoff, Nick Cummins, to Shannon Noll and Brendon Fevola.

“Twenty eight years on Neighbours. I tell you, this is the shortest job I’ve ever had,” Ryan joked after the reveal.

Hughesy told the star, “We are honoured to have you. You are an absolute icon of this nation and the world.”

Surprisingly, international music legend Mel B shared that she, too, was a big fan of the Aussie star, revealing that she loved watching Neighbours as a child, “I would stay home from school. I would mix my digestive biscuits up, pretend I’d been sick. My mum would let me off school and I’d stay and watch you!”

Viewers were equally shocked over the reveal, with many taking to social media to express their surprise over Moloney’s singing chops.

“Is there nothing Ryan Moloney can’t do???? Who knew he could hold a tune. I miss Toadie,” one wrote, as another added, “Wait did we know that Toadie could sing?! Why was this never a Neighbours storyline?! And where is Ryan Moloney’s pop career?! I feel like we’ve been robbed!”

While many had suspected that a Neighbours alum would appear in the series after the show was axed after nearly 40 years, fans were still surprised that it was Moloney who had appeared in the bonkers series.

“I was sure Neighbours royalty would refer to Jason Donovan. Well played Masked Singer,” one fan admitted.

The Caterpillar

The second celebrity was unmasked last night on The Masked Singer Australia and it seriously shocked fans.

The Caterpillar was unmasked on Monday night following a number of solid guesses from judges Mel B, Chrissie Swan, Abbie Chatfield and Dave Hughes.

In her clues package, the Caterpillar said that she could be found worldwide “from coast to jungle”.

She was also seen being knighted by a royal while a counter ticked up to the number 15 in the corner of the screen.

The Caterpillar performed Tones And I’s Cloudy Day.

The judges made a number of guesses on who could be under the mask, including Carrie Bickmore, Schapelle Corby, Sally Pearson and Emily Seebohm.

But in a shocking twist, the Caterpillar turned out to be Australian swimming champion, Lisa Curry.

Once fans found out Lisa was behind the mask, her clues clicked into place – the coast to jungle line hinted to her stint on I’m A Celeb, her birthday is on May 15, and she fits the “commonwealth games superstar” hint Ten have been teasing all season.

Following the performance, Hughesy dubbed Lisa “an absolute icon in this country,” whilst Chrissie Swan was impressed by the swimmer’s spirit.

Lisa also revealed why she decided to compete on the show: “You know what? I needed a bit of cheering up, so I just thought, ‘Why not do it?’” she explained before adding, “because you only get these opportunities once and you never lose, you only learn.”

The Thong

It was Looking For Alibrandi star and Australian Survivor champion, Pia Miranda, who was unveiled as the third superstar performer on The Masked Singer Australia.

But despite her rendition of P!nk’s ‘So What’ having the panel and audience jumping to their feet, Thong was no match for Blowfly’s emotive take on Adele’s ‘Easy On Me’.

Dave Hughes guessed Thong to be Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, while Abbie Chatfield was set on Hollywood actress Isla Fisher.

Mel B was convinced that model, actress, and presenter, Ruby Rose, was under the mask, and Chrissie believed they may be pop princess, Carly Rae Jepsen.

After her unmasking, Pia said: “This has been so fun, I’ve loved every second. I can’t even tell you how good it’s been!”

The Tiger

On Sunday night’s episode, Backyard Blitz host Jamie Durie was unmasked as the voice behind the Tiger!

Singing Phil Collins In The Air Tonight, Jamie was a popular pick as the man behind the mask – with judge Chrissie Swan guessing him since the beginning.

The Masked Singer judges also guessed that either Paul Gascoigne or Gary Sweet could be behind the mask.

All clues pointed to Durie, with the Tiger shown dancing the Charleston – Durie has competed on Dancing with the Stars twice.

The Tiger also hinted that he spends “a lot of time in the back” in a nod to Durie’s days as host of Backyard Blitz, and mentioned that they were “very Manly” in a hint towards Durie’s birthplace, Manly.

“You got me! You had me from the get-go, didn’t you Chrissie?” laughed Jaimie, before Mel B remembered where she had seen him before.

“I remember you from Oprah. You were the sexy gardener,” she said.

The Zombie

The Zombie was unmasked on Monday night revealing none other than former Yellow Wiggle, Emma Watkins.

Wowing the judges with her rendition of Radiohead’s Creep, the judges made a number of guesses about who could be behind the mask.

And it seems that Chrissie Swan is on a winning streak, correctly guessing who was behind the mask for the second night in a row.

After her unmasking, Emma made the surprising admission that she was “really nervous” about singing.

“I grew up as a dancer, so I really only learnt to sing through the Wiggles… And so I was always very afraid to sing in front of people, so the idea of this show was absolutely perfect. I‘m actually very grateful to Zombie and I owe her everything,” she explained.

The Gnome

This season’s wild card contestant was unmasked on Tuesday night, seriously shocking fans who never expected the star to return to Channel Ten.

Matt Preston was unveiled as the voice behind The Gnome, which was a surprising move for the star who was an original MasterChef judge on Ten before moving to the Seven Network.

In fact, whilst audiences on Ten watched his less-than-professional singing, fans of MKR saw him co-host the show for the first time on Channel Seven.

Singing I’m A Believer by The Monkees, Matt had a short run on the show, only appearing in one episode.

And once again, Chrissie was the only judge to correctly guess which celeb was behind the mask – making this the third night in a row she has picked the voice behind the costume.

The Popcorn

Sunday night’s episode finally saw the identity of The Popcorn revealed!

Sam Sparro, the singer behind the 2008 hit Black and Gold, impressed judges with his rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

“I can’t believe I got it right. You’re amazing. Sam, you’re bloody amazing,” explained Mel B who couldn’t contain her excitement after correctly guessing the voice behind the mask.

After being unmasked, Sam explained the surprising revelation he had during his time on the show, confessing that his performances had helped him realise how much he enjoys connecting with people on stage.

“You know, I’ve realised I’ve become more introverted as my life’s changed. I’ve gotten older,” he explained.

“So kind of being able to hide, in the beginning it was fun, but then I realised how much I like connecting with people, being able to look at them in the eyes and see who I’m performing to.”

The Blowfly

On Monday night viewers suspicions were confirmed with the unmasking on The Blowfly – revealing none other than Shannon Noll.

Last week Channel 10 mistakenly confirmed that Nollsy was the man behind the mask in a quickly deleted tweet

Performing Bon Jovi’s You Give Love A Bad Name, it was clear to many fans that Shannon Noll was the voice behind the mask and both Abbie Chatfield and Mel B correctly picked the celeb.

Other guesses of the Blowfly’s identity included Xavier Rudd and Grant Denyer.

Abbie couldn’t contain her excitement after correct guessing, explaining, “I feel how I would imagine I would have felt if you’d won Australian Idol. It’s all happening for me!”

“I think I’m gonna vomit. Someone else talk. I’m so happy!”

The Microphone

In a pleasant surprise for fans of 2000s icons Destiny’s Child, Michelle Williams was unveiled as the ninth celebrity performer, Microphone!

Despite her glamorous take on Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing, the Microphone was no match for Rooster’s clucky rendition of Labrinth’s Beneath Your Beautiful.

Abbie Chatfield was close to discovering Microphone’s identity, guessing that it was Michelle’s former fellow member of Destiny’s Child, Letoya Luckett, while Dave Hughes put his bets on singer, songwriter and actress, Cyndi Lauper.

Chrissie Swan was certain Microphone was R&B royalty, Brandy, and Mel B nailed it by locking in Michelle Williams.

When asked to describe her connection to Great Big World’s Say Something, the song behind her jaw-dropping performance in episode eight, Michelle said: “It’s no secret I was engaged, and then it didn’t work out. I just remember those words. It kind of articulated that this is what I wanted to say… It was almost like therapy. That’s what music can do. It’s been an amazing journey here.”

Poodle

Poodle gave a paw-some rendition of Madonna’s Material Girl and Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know, but the perplexing clues lead the panel astray.

Abbie Chatfield’s first guess was Tori, but she later locked in Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Kyle Richards, while Chrissie Swan hedged her bets on pop royalty, Katy Perry, and Mel B was certain it was her fellow Spice Girl, Emma Bunton. Meanwhile, Dave Hughes placed a bet on Canadian singer Carly Rae-Jepsen.

Speaking of her experience on The Masked Singer Australia, Tori said: “I had the best time. I’m literally living the dream – I am in Australia. I’m a popstar for the night. My family, even though they don’t know what I’m doing here, they would never believe that I’m here.”

The Masked Singer airs 7.30pm Sunday – Tuesday on Network 10.
