Love Island AU star Jordan in court for drink driving charges

He was caught out on a late-night trip to the servo

He’s known as the ‘bogan tradie’ with the mullet on this season of Love Island Australia and whilst Jordan Dowsett hasn’t caused much trouble in the villa, he’s definitely been misbehaving outside of it.

The 25-year-old has appeared in a Gold Coast court this week, pleading guilty to a mid-range drink driving charge after being caught intoxicated behind the wheel of a golf buggy.

The incident happened on November 13, when at 3am Jordan was approached by police at a busy intersection.

The reality TV contestant was returning from an early morning trip to the servo for food when he was busted.

The court was told that when officers pulled over the golf cart they noticed “a strong smell of liquor” coming from the direction of Jordan and that his speech was “partially slurred”.

The officers breathalysed the tradie, who then returned a positive reading. Court notes said he admitted to “consuming a moderate amount of liquor” prior to getting behind the wheel of the buggy.

Jordan’s legal representative, Blake Fraser, told the court that Dowsett had been visiting a friend in a nearby gated community earlier that evening.

“His friend (uses) the golf buggy to travel around the gated community,” Mr Fraser explained.

“(Dowsett) had originally entered the golf buggy as a passenger and travelled a short distance to the closest petrol station to get some food.

“However the defendant made the stupid decision to get behind the wheel for the travel back.”

His representative also requested that the magistrate keep Jordan’s loss of a license to a minimum, as the electrician needs to be able to drive to fulfil work duties.

“He’s only been with his current employer for three weeks and he won’t be able to fulfil his obligations without a licence.”

This request was granted by the court and his disqualification period was reduced down to the minimum of six months.

But he didn’t get off easy as the charge was also convicted and Jordan was given a fine of $750, which the magistrate reduced due to the offender’s “young age” and “career prospects”.
