This time round the chainstore pharmacy and beauty playground is wholly focussed on fragrance and we admit it – we are excited! Like, really.

You see perfume is a must-have in our opinion but it is expensive which leaves us in a something of a quandary.

We want it badly and yet – we need to buy groceries, pay our mortgages and feed the kids too.

Accordingly, when Priceline stages a half price sale we are so in!

Maybe you already know exactly which scent you want to snaffle up but if not, Meaghan Logan, senior fragrance buyer Priceline Pharmacy recommends the following:

“Our top 5 picks are prestige scents for her from luxury brands like Lancôme, Chloé and Jimmy Choo,” she says.

“These fragrances are beautiful, timeless and the scents are long-wearing eau de parfums.”

We also adore scents by Issey Miyake, Estee Lauder and Paco Rabanne.

Issey Miyake – was $125 now $55. (Image: Supplied.)

Maybe you’re already across this but just in case you’re not an eau de parfum is a strong scent whereas an eau de toilette is slightly more watered down.

And if you wanting to learn a little more about perfumes (you’re here anyway – might as well) top notes are the ones you smell first. Heart notes reveal themselves after about five to 10 minutes whereas base notes come last.

If you’re not sure which scent you fancy spritz a little on a perfume card, wave briefly and then inhale. Like it? Put it aside. Try another? Like that too? Do the same.

After trying three to five you should have a couple of favourites. Keep those cards and discard the others. Then begin again.

was $130 – now a bargain $65! (Image: Supplied.)

Beauty expert Sali Hughes suggests you pop a Ziplock bag of coffee in your handbag before you head out to test fragrances.

After three or so open the bag and inhale.

“The aroma will clear your head and act as a nasal cleaner to avoid confusing subsequent perfumes,” she says.

Also, no pressure beauty lovers, but you might want to hurry! This sale kicks off February 12 and wraps up February 14 so time is of the essence.
