KIIS FM’s Jackie O Henderson has spoken out about the scandal surrounding her co-host Kyle Sandilands.
The radio host said Kyle is devastated by the backlash he received from his offensive comments about the Virgin Mary.
“I know he is really sorry about what he said,” Henderson told Daily Mail Australia.
“And I think he’s really keen to address it once we get back on air. But I do know he’s genuinely upset that he’s hurt people.”

When asked about the 48-year-old’s emotional state, Jackie reassured the publication that he would be fine.
“I mean, Kyle’s been through things like this before but I think with this one he genuinely feels that people are affected and hurt by it.
“He didn’t want that. It was never his intention, so I think he’s keen to bring it up on air.
“He’ll be OK. I think people just need to hear it from him, you know. It’s just a shame we’ve been away all week and haven’t had a chance to [address the issue].
Kyle and Jackie O have been off work this week during a radio non-ratings period, but the 44-year-old is confident that both of their jobs will be waiting for them when they return.
“I haven’t even spoken to KIIS,” Jackie said when asked about the status of their employment.
“I’m assuming so.”
Last week, Kyle made a series of offensive comments on air, calling the Virgin Mary a ‘liar’ who got knocked up ‘behind a camel shed.’
“I thought Mary was his (Jesus’) girlfriend but apparently it was the mother,” he said.
“And the mother lied obviously and told everyone, ‘Nah I got pregnant by a magical ghost’. Bulls**t.”
He also called anyone who believed in the Bible story “dumb”.
The comments angered Christian and Muslim groups, and earlier this week, protesters from both faiths gathered outside Sydney’s KIIS FM studios, demanding the 48-year-old be fired.
