Just as he’s trying to get his life back in order, Dean’s world is turned upside down when his estranged mother Karen (Georgia Adamson) suddenly appears in the Bay.
“Dean’s been given community service and he’s really trying to keep busy,” says Patrick. “Underneath it all, I think he does want to get back on the straight and narrow. But now his mum turns up.”
Karen, who has a history of violence as well as drug and alcohol abuse, has been anything but a stabilising influence in her son’s life up until now. And we soon see that nothing has changed.
A clearly troubled Karen wastes no time making her presence felt for all the wrong reasons.
Before long, she’s at loggerheads with everyone from Willow (Sarah Roberts) to John (Shane Withington).
But no-one could have anticipated what happens next. In an apparent moment of sheer madness, Karen drives her car directly towards Dean and John as they’re standing outside the Surf Club!
Will they be able to jump out of harm’s way before it’s too late?
