It’s been two years since Bindi Irwin married Chandler Powell in a private ceremony, and not only did she gain a husband, but a whole new family too.

While Bindi and her family are practically Australian royalty, she, just like her father, married someone who isn’t from Down Under.
Just like Terri Irwin, Chandler is American and comes out of Seffner, Florida. His parents Chris and Shannan Powell currently live just outside of Tampa.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Chris and Shannan haven’t had the chance to be as involved with the family as they would like, and even missed their son’s wedding due to travel restrictions.
At the time, when Chandler told his family that they would go ahead with new plans to have a small wedding ceremony, they said they fully support their decision and to “just get married.”
Chandler shared that his dad wanted to see every detail of the wedding and get a play-by-play of the day, despite not being able to be there in person. But of course, it wasn’t the same.
“The Powell family is pretty torn up about the lockdown situation in Australia making it virtually impossible for any of the family to visit,” a source previously told Us Weekly.
Things have certainly changed since then, as Chandler’s family were finally able to come over to Australia and celebrate Grace’s first birthday, and also meet her for the very first time.
The visit coincided with Chris’ birthday this year, and Bindi celebrated her father-in-law with a sweet Instagram post that read: “I’m tremendously grateful that we get to celebrate your birthday together. Here’s to the love of family and khaki uniforms!”
Chris also took to his own Instagram to celebrate Grace’s birthday, as well as Bindi and Chandler’s second anniversary, writing: “Love you three so much. The last three weeks have been such a blessing spending time with you.”
What’s more, back when Bindi and Chandler announced that they were expecting their first child together in 2021, Chandler’s brother Cameron revealed a week later that he was expecting a baby girl with his wife Kristin.
“Chandler’s parents are already calling the babies the Powell twins, so it’ll be double the joy one way or another!” a source revealed to New Idea at the time.
“Chandler and Cameron are the mirror image of each other, so Chris and Shannan are hoping history will repeat.”
