It’s been nearly two years since Samantha Jade wed her husband Pat Handlin.
The X Factor Australia and former Sony executive tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Venice, Italy.
Speaking with the Kyle and Jackie O Show at the time, the now Mrs Handlin revealed that she chose the location as a tribute to her late mother.
“Venice is a really special place to us,” she said. “It’s where we had our first holiday together and it was a place that my mum always wanted to go before she passed away.”
Samantha, 37, continued: “The ceremony was really beautiful in this small quadrangle that was quiet by the water
“It was short and sweet and nothing crazy which is exactly how we wanted it to be.”
Pat got down on one knee in 2019. While the pair hoped to wed sooner rather than later, they had to call off the wedding a total of three times due to COVID.
In a 2022 interview with the Daily Telegraph, the singer explained that they were waiting until borders opened up.
“My family are in Perth, I am not going to get married if I can’t walk down the aisle with my dad,” she explained.
“I feel like everyone in the world would understand that, I can’t get married without my father and my brothers, so that’s not a possibility for me right now.”
The 37-year-old also set the record straight after speculation swirled about the state of her relationship.
“We’re very much engaged. We very much absolutely love each other, and we are very much going to get married,” Samantha said.
“But there’s no way if I can’t have my family at my wedding.”
Despite the setbacks, the Dancing With The Stars contestant expressed how keen she was to start planning her wedding when speaking to our sister site Now To Love in 2021.
“We just actually sat down the other day and said ‘let’s start planning again!’ It felt like we’d start and then something would ruin it again,” Sam said.
Since they began dating in 2017, Samantha and Pat have kept a very low profile.
Photos of the pair holding hands in public emerged in June 2017, but she never officially confirmed the romance until later.
There are very few photos of Pat on Samantha’s Instagram, with the star preferring to keep her love life off the platform.
That’s not to say he hasn’t made the odd appearance or two, with Samantha marking days like his birthday and other occasions with a sweet snap of the pair.
