Riley Keough is currently the name on everyone’s lips, thanks to the new Amazon Prime series Daisy Jones & The Six. The 33 year old plays the titular character, a singer-songwriter who rose to fame in the 1970s alongside the band, The Six.
And while Riley does sing and play guitar in Daisy Jones & The Six, before the series started filming she’d never sung or played guitar before – an extremely surprising fact considering she’s the granddaughter of rock ‘n’ roll icon, Elvis Presly.

Talking to EW, Riley said, “My whole family are musicians, so I certainly have a lot of experience around musicians.”
“I dated a few musicians [laughs]. I’ve grown up with a lot of that in my life. So, I’m very familiar with musicians, but I’m also very not familiar with singing or playing guitar. Like at all,” Riley continued.
Of course, as Daisy Jones & The Six is set in the 70s and the music style is very rock mixed with pop mixed with folk, Riley couldn’t really channel her grandfather as his music style was classic 1950s rock influenced by country, rhythm & blues and gospel.
However, there was a sweet nod to Elvis in the series; in the second episode of Daisy Jones & The Six, Daisy/Riley can be seen playing a guitar with a strap that looks the exact same as a guitar strap Elvis wore in 1968 during his comeback special.
