MasterChef finalist Ben Ungermann may be winning over the judges on the hit Channel 10 show, but off air the contestant has overstepped the mark after being convicted of low-range drink driving.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the 32-year-old was stopped by police on May 26 in Brisbane.
The former model was charged with being under the influence and has since been slapped with a $400 fine and banned from getting behind the wheel for an 8-week period.
Following the incident, a spokesman for Endemol Shine Australia – the production company behind MasterChef – have released a statement.
“Ben feels deeply remorseful about making this one-off judgment error and respects the actions of the police and the verdict of the court.”
Ungermann is competing to win the MasterChef 2017 title and is currently placed in the final four.
