Just this month, Madonna celebrated her 61st birthday during rehearsals for her Madame X tour. Backstage, she threw a low-key party surrounded by her tour crew and all of her children. First, Who Is Madonna?

Madonna isn’t married to anyone right now. She used to be married to British director Guy Ritchie though. However, they divorced in 2008.

Madonna And Her Children
These days, aside from continuing to make music and touring the world, Madonna spends most of her time taking care of her kids, and posting about them on Instagram! But just how many kids does Madonna have? Well, she has six:
Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon was born on October 14, 1996, to Madonna and Cuban dancer Carlos Leon, who was the singer’s fitness trainer at the time.
Rocco John Ritchie was born on August 11, 2000, to Madonna and Guy Ritchie, who was still Madonna’s husband at the time.
In October 2006, Madonna adopted a 13-month-old Malawian boy named David Banda Mwale Ciccone – but not without controversy. Madonna and her ex-husband Guy Ritchie apparently did not abide by Malawi’s law stating that adoptive parents must live in the country at least one year prior to adoption.
The controversy resurfaced in 2009 when Madonna decided to adopt another Malawian child, a girl named Chifundo “Mercy” James. Madonna was called out for receiving special treatment by the Malawi government.
In 2017, Madonna adopted a pair of twin girls (again from Malawi), four-year-olds Stella Ciccone and Estere Ciccone.

Lola Leon
Lourdes Leon, Madonna’s sole biological daughter, is now 22 years old. She’s also been dubbed as a fashion “It girl” by W Magazine after she appeared in the Spring 2019 campaign for Miu Miu.
But Lourdes (or Lola) has been in the fashion world long before this. At just five years old, she was photographed with her mother, Donatella Versace, Allegra Versace, and Chelsea Clinton at a Versace retrospective. Before she even made her runway debut in 2018, she already had experience as the creative director of her mother’s juniors line for Macy’s.
Rocco Ritchie
Rocco Ritchie is 19 years old. In 2016, Madonna and Guy had an ugly custody battle over their son after he left his mum’s Rebel Hearts tour citing boredom and overly strict parenting. Back then, Rocco had a rebellious streak and wanted to take it easy.
Some felt that this rebellious attitude was exacerbated by the public battle – while staying in London with his father, he was caught smoking with some friends and photographed with a buzzed head and a cast on his arm.
Thankfully his teenage angst didn’t last too long! Recently, Rocco’s been spotted with a new, cleaned up look. And in 2017, Rocco joined his mum and the rest of his siblings on a trip to Malawi.
David Banda
David Banda is now 13 years old, and he’s growing up to be a handsome young man! In an interview with Vogue, Madonna has revealed that she feels she has the most in common with David. “What he has more than anything is focus and determination”, she told Vogue. “I’m pretty sure he got it from me … I feel like he gets me, he has more of my DNA than any of my other children so far”.
David is into soccer, but he also seems to have his mother’s knack for singing as well. In June, Madonna shared a video of David’s cover of Elton John’s ‘Your Song’.
Mercy James
Mercy James is also 13 years old and appears to be close to David. In the 2017 trip to Malawi, Mercy James made a speech expressing her love for her adoptive mum.
Estere And Stella
Twins Estere and Stella are now six years old. On Instagram, Madonna likes to post photos and videos of the super cute pair who are constantly singing and dancing together. Looks like they caught the performing bug from their mum!

On Thanksgiving last year, she posted a photo of all six of her kids to Instagram. She captioned it “What I am Most THANKFUL for!
