Julia Roberts looked like she might have some exciting baby news to reveal as she enjoyed a relaxing beach date with her husband, Danny Moder, last week.
The 51-year-old appeared more curvy than usual while enjoying a romantic visit to the beach near their Hawaii family home. While Danny, 50, stripped off for a quick dip, showing off a very toned physique, the Oscar winner remained firmly covered up, relaxing on the sand.
The couple proved that despite continual rumours of marital discord throughout their nearly-17-year-marriage, they clearly still enjoy each other’s company. At one point Julia and Danny cuddled up on the sand as they smiled and chatted, enjoying their alone time.
So it wouldn’t be surprising to learn the pair possibly had plans to expand their family. Julia has always been very open about her love of motherhood, saying, “I love it all, I mean I love it when it’s easy and I love it when it’s challenging.”
She also has a very romantic view of parenting, explaining that she and Danny consider their children – Hazel and Phinnaeus, 14, and Henry, 11 – to be a “complete reflection of the affection we have for each other”.
Last year, there were reports the couple were expecting a baby with a source telling In Touch magazine, “The surprise news has saved their marriage and totally turned their lives around.” There had been rumours swirling that Julia’s marriage to Danny was under pressure and they were heading for divorce. Soon after, Julia expressed publicly how their relationship was stronger than ever and that she ignored the constant speculation.
“I’m so proud of my marriage,” she told Oprah Winfrey. “We just celebrated being married for 16 years this 4th of July, and there’s so much happiness wrapped up in what we’ve found together.”
While in the past Julia has called Danny “my best friend, my truth-teller”, when it comes to their children, she says she’s a “strict mum”.
“I don’t really lose my temper, but I think it’s important that children know their boundaries,” she says. “If something happens I don’t really punish them, I prefer to have conversations with them. I think my serious face is punishment enough.”
Julia may have eased up on her strict diet and exercise regime after looking surprisingly slim on the red carpet at last year’s Toronto Film Festival. She explained how she was in the best shape of her life after losing 20kg under the supervision of a nutritionist, telling the Irish Independent newspaper, “I played a role that required I lose considerable weight”.
However in the past Julia’s always been adamant that she was not a fan of strict, fad diets, saying that if she lived like that full-time, “I would just go crazy. So I think, better just to remain calm, drink your water, get your sleep and be joyful.”
