They’re one of our favourite couples in the Bay. But stormy seas are on the horizon for Ziggy and Dean. And the young pair would be wise to baton down the hatches!
The week begins with Dean (Patrick O’Connor) feeling under stress and exhausted as he works around the clock.

Juggling night shifts at Salt with his new – and, as yet, far from lucrative – day job giving surf lessons, Dean is understandably not his usual carefree self. And the cracks are beginning to show.
Indeed, when Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) drops by Dean’s morning class on her way to a surf and begins to ask her boyfriend questions that he simply doesn’t have the time or headspace to answer, he quickly loses his cool at her.
“As much as we women get things right, sometimes we miss things,” says Sophie. “Ziggy is blissfully unaware of how much pressure Dean is under until it’s too late.”
Certainly, this is a side of Dean that Ziggy hasn’t seen.
“Initially she is shocked, but slowly she is able to join the dots and feels bad for pushing Dean so hard,” says Sophie.
Later in the week, worried about the man she loves, Ziggy takes it upon herself to speak to Mackenzie (Emily Weir) about Dean’s shifts at Salt. However, when Dean finds out, his response is anything but that of gratitude!
“Ziggy will do things that appear to be right without really thinking them through,” says Sophie. “She is a fixer. She wants to be there and help Dean live out on his dream, but she was so focused on the dream that she forgot the reality.”
