It would be hard to find someone who didn’t feel all warm and fuzzy after watching the inspiring Find Your Voice choir perform ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ on Australia’s Got Talent.
The grassroots choir was founded by singer/songwriter Tom Richardson and All Abilities Advocacy mentor Kylie Thulborn and it welcomes all abilities, ages, genders, ethnicities, sexual preferences and backgrounds.

“This choir has proven to me that we are so much more alike than we are different and that we are all so much more capable than we personally give ourselves credit for,” Tom tells New Idea.
“We maybe have 60 to 70 per cent of our members identifying with a disability and as a result people are very quick to label this as a disability choir, which is not the case. It’s an all abilities choir – it’s a human choir.”
While the choir travels around Victoria performing, there was nothing quite like performing on the talent show.
“It was amazing and I think any time you get to play at a sold-out theatre in front of 2000 people it’s always such a buzz,” Tom reveals. “We have done some pretty special festival shows, but the choir took the energy to a whole other level on Australia’s Got Talent.
We are very fortunate.”
