Under the glittering lights of the Dancing with the Stars mirror ball, a special – and unexpected – close friendship is developing between the show’s co-host, Dr Chris Brown, and hot favourite Lisa McCune.
“Chris and Lisa have bonded over the fact that they are very much both out of their comfort zones,” a source close to the set exclusively tells New Idea. “They already share a really sweet connection.”
When Chris, 45, defected from Network 10 to take up a contract at Channel Seven, some industry insiders were surprised he was assigned DWTS. He also hosted Dream Home, and will be on presenting duties again for the upcoming adventure series Once In A Lifetime.
“Standing in a tuxedo under countless spotlights as everyone gets their razzle-dazzle on is not something he’s overly familiar with,” our source adds. That same puzzlement applies to former Blue Heelers star Lisa, 53.
“She’s a very respected actress who’s appeared in countless productions on stage and screen. Viewers are used to seeing her immersed characters,” our source explains.
“Getting into a sequin gown and waltzing on national television is a totally new world for Lisa. Reality TV was never really on the cards for her.”
A Seven insider stresses to New Idea that Chris and Lisa are not dating. However, as both are thought to be single, our source believes their friendship has the potential to blossom into something more.
“Lisa is very much the type of person Chris admires,” our source says. “She’s strong, focused and professional.”
Chris and Lisa have also connected over their passion for business.
“Chris is so much more than a TV presenter these days,” explains the source.
“He’s also launched his own line of pet products, while Lisa has just started her own production company outside of her acting work. They’re two people who love to explore new opportunities.”
As to whether they could one day explore a romantic opportunity together, our insider reckons “never say never!”
“They’re pragmatic and ambitious and truly have all the makings of becoming a potential couple,” says the source.
“There definitely could be a spark or two there!”
