Bindi Irwin revealed she experienced a heartbreaking personal loss this week, taking to Instagram to pay tribute to an old and dear friend.
EXCLUSIVE: Bindi Irwin’s public showdown with fiance Chandler
Yesterday, the animal-lover confessed that one of her favourite creatures had passed away.
In a post on Instagram, she shared a photo of herself holding a black-feathered chicken in her arms, along with a photo of the chook on grass.
The 21-year-old penned an emotional message in the caption of the post, writing:
“For nearly 13 years you made us smile through life’s ups and downs. Rest In Peace my lovely girl.”
Many of Bindi’s 2.8 million followers flooded the post with words of support and offered their condolences.
Others commented on the impressively long life of the chicken.
According to The Happy Chicken Coop, the average life span of a hen is roughly 3-10 years.
At 13 years, it appears the chicken was well looked after by the Wildlife Warrior star.
Bindi also plans to pay tribute to her late father, Steve Irwin at her wedding with fiancé Chandler Powell.
“I really want to include Dad on the day and make sure that he is with us in some way,” the 21-year-old told People.
“We’ll be able to all get up as a little family and light a candle in his honour and share a few words on what an amazing dad he was and still is.”
Bindi became engaged to long-term boyfriend Chandler on the grounds of Queensland’s Australia Zoo on her 21st birthday in July 2019.
