According to a report from TMZ, the artists living conditions at Kronoberg prison, Sweden, are ‘inhumane‘ and are like ‘walking into a toilet’.

The American publication further claimed that the prison is ‘disease ridden‘ and the food was ‘inedible’, with a source telling TMZ that ASAP Rocky is being made to sleep on a yoga mat with no blanket and is in a cell next to someone with ‘severe mental issues‘.

Following TMZ’s report, a member of ASAP’s entourage claims the rapper is actually being held in solitary confinement.

The claims have led to a barrage of fans and industry friends calling for his immediate release, and a petition has since formed with the aim to free ASAP from custody immediately.

Yesterday, prosecuter Fredrik Wallin held a press conference where he refuted the claims made by TMZ, stating that ASAP is being held in ‘good conditions’.

According to Mr Wallin, the prison and its cells had been renovated over the last few years leaving them in fine conditions.

“I have no knowledge on any current diseases in the remand prison,” Mr Wallin told BBC Newsbeat.

The American artist had been in Stockholm to perform at a festival but was arrested soon afterwards after an alleged assault took place.

According to BBC Newsbeat, ASAP Rocky was being followed by two men, one of the men following the famous American rapper then accused a member of his team of breaking his headphones.

After his arrest, footage emerged of ASAP Rocky allegedly punching a man, and was released by TMZ.

According to BBC Newsbeat, Swedish authorities are detaining ASAP for a further two weeks while the investigation continues.
