The troubled son of Hollywood star Michael Douglas is in trouble with the law once more.
Radar Online reports that actor Cameron Douglas, has violated the terms of his probation and has been caught with marijuana in his system just three months after being released from a seven-year stint behind bars.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE back in April, a lab tech accused the 38-year-old of “attempting to manipulate the results” of a random drug screening by submitting “something that was not his urine.”
However, after further testing his results came back positive.
Court transcripts show Douglas’ probation officers sympathising with the shamed star, assuring the judge that “relapse is part of the recovery process.”
“We would like to provide Mr. Douglas an opportunity to be in the community to see how he responds to setbacks,” one officer said.
The It Runs In The Family star then proceeded show remorse for his mistake, explaining he has no intention of relapsing.
“I guess what I want to tell you is that since I’ve come back, I’ve worked really hard, and this hiccup is unfortunate, but I don’t foresee it happening again,” he said.
In 2010 Douglas was sentenced to five-years in prison for possession of heroin and selling methamphetamine.
His sentence was later extended by two-years after illicit drugs were found in his possession.
