Looking in the mirror, Carly Findlay’s eyes filled with happy tears. In a beautiful white tulle and silk gown, the bride felt like a princess, with a handmade headpiece and her hair in cascading ringlets.
Carly, 35, has ichthyosis – a rare genetic condition that leaves her skin looking red and scaly while feeling itchy and sore.
She met her husband Adam Morrow through an online dating site in 2013.
‘Adam sees much more than my disability, but he sees it,’ Carly says.
The loving couple wed in front of 57 guests at Red Scooter in Balaclava, Melbourne, in March 2016. The warehouse-style venue was decked out in pretty pink flowers, balloons and sequins.
‘We’d been planning our big day for two years,’ Carly smiles. ‘It was perfect.’
