Beyonce opens up about the horrifying moment that forced her to undergo an emergency C-section for twins Sir and Rumi

Beyoncé has opened up about the terrifying moment one of her twins’ heartbeats stopped while she was in labour after an “extremely difficult” pregnancy.

The 37-year-old global superstar was forced to undrergo an emergency C-section to safely deliver Sir and Rumi Carter, her youngest children with husband Jay-Z.

Recalling the ordeal in her new Netflix documentary Homecoming, Queen Bey revealed she endured the life threatening conditions toxaemia and pre-eclampsia while carrying her now 22-month-old son and daughter.

“In the womb, one of my babies’ heartbeat paused a few times so I had to get a emergency C-section,” she is heard saying in the feature about her 2018 Coachella headline performance.

Beyoncé, who is also mother to seven-year-old Blue Ivy, made history by becoming the first black woman to ever headline the world renowned music festival in Indio, California.

The iconic star admitted her struggles left her wondering if she would ever be the same, and after the twins’ touch-and-go delivery promised she would never push herself so hard again.

The revelation is all the more poignant given Beyoncé’s previous heartbreak related to a miscarriage.

The former Destiny’s Child star alluded to her tragic loss in a spoken word poem titled Apathy on her record breaking 2016 album Lemonade, in which she addresses the infidelity of an unnamed person assumed to be her husband Jay-Z: “Here lies the mother of my children, both living and dead.”

The long term couple and musical partners also referenced their grief in the 2013 documentary Life Is But a Dream, with Beyoncé calling it “the saddest thing I’ve ever been through”.
