Former Wonderland and Home And Away star Ben Mingay and Kirby Burgess, a broadway actress have tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Sydney’s Centennial Park on Feb. 9.
In the pictures below, the glamorous event clearly was a success, but Speaking to WHO exclusively, Mingay, revealed the day did not go without its hiccups.
On the way to the elegant ceremony, the groom’s classic 1977 Jaguar XJ6 spluttered, coughed and finally died while weaving through Sydney at rush hour. “I couldn’t believe it,” the 39-year-old said.
“I had been polishing the Jag all week, fixing things, taking it around and around the block to make sure everything was perfect. And then, on the day itself, I was driving with my mum, dad and brother as passengers when the car just ground to a halt in the middle of peak-hour traffic!”
The car drama aside, the chivalrous groom arrive in time to exchange with his gorgeous bride who wore a dress she designed with the help of couturier Lisa D’Amico, but also designed and helped sew six of the seven burgundy, plum and blue bridesmaids’ outfits—and crafted the wooden wedding arbour with her father Matthew.
“We couldn’t work out what to do, ” Mingay says of choosing a honeymoon destination. But the happy couple has settled with a “glamping” experience in Bali.
