Where do the royal family live?

We’ve all heard of the royal residences but where exactly does the royal family, from Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, live?

Here is everything you need to know about the palaces and estates the royals call home – from who lives in Buckingham Palace to who lives in Kensington Palace.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh

Although The Queen has several properties under her belt, her main place of residence is Buckingham Palace where she resides with her husband Prince Phillip.

Buckingham Palace is about two miles from Kensington Palace. She’s usually there during the week, but at weekends you may find her at Windsor Castle. During August and September, you can find her at Balmoral Castle in Scotland and at Christmas, she’s at Sandringham House in Norfolk.

The Prince of Wales official residence is Clarence House in London where he moved to in 2003. It was originally the home of The Queen Mother where she lived until she died in 2002. The house is located next to St James’ Palace and Camilla organised the renovations before she moved in 2005 after her marriage to Charles.

They moved here from their country estate Anmer Hall at The Queen’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk after the property underwent a $9million renovation. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle currently live in Nottingham Cottage, also located within Kensington Palace. The property is a cosy two-bedroom home which is a perfect starter residence for the pair. However once they have children it is rumoured they will move into apartment 1, next to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s home.
