ROYALS

The royal wedding will cost how much?

It's a LOT more than you think!

It is set to be the wedding of the year, but how much does the royal wedding actually cost?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to tie the knot on May 19 at St Georges Chapel in the grounds of Widsor Castle in the UK, and the highly anticipated event certainly won’t be a cheap affair.

Of course, we weren’t expecting it to be a budget wedding, but it turns out that the event is expected to cost more than Prince William and Kate’s 2011 nuptials.

According to British wedding site, Bridebook, Meghan and Harry’s wedding is estimated to cost around $58.3 million.

That’s about $22 million more than Will and Kate’s big day!

But, the bulk of this cost reportedly comes down to security measures. They include, snipers, undercover police and possible drones, which adds up to about $54 million.

Other costs reportedly include $195 000 for decorative flowers, $90 900 for their lemon elderflower wedding cake and $545 000 to $727 000 on Meghan’s wedding dress.

Despite, the estimated price for the gown, Royal expert Katie Nicholl thinks that Meghan will choose something low-key.

‘Meghan is very mindful of wanting to end the right message with her gown,’ Katie told the Telegraph.

‘It’s going to be iconic and fit the backdrop of Windsor Castle, but it would send off the wrong message to wear a dress that in cost alone would upstage Kate’s.’
