Queen Elizabeth was reportedly ‘upset’ and ‘absolutely fuming’ yesterday after false claims that Prince Philip had died swept the internet.

The 97-year-old Duke’s ‘death’ began trending on Twitter.

Buckingham Palace switchboard was flooded with calls, according to The Sun, and sources said the Queen was left ‘absolutely fuming.’

A royal insider told The Sun, ‘They both agreed there was little they could do but they are very, very annoyed.

‘It’s not nice to hear people the world over commenting on your health or death, even if you’re used to being in the public eye. It shows how the internet can get out of control.

‘The Queen is absolutely fuming over this and thinks it’s disgraceful.’

Her Majesty, 92, is currently holidaying in Balmoral while Philip is at Sandringham. She was alerted to the claims when staff started asking how her husband was.

The source added, ‘If he was ill, she would be with him instead of starting her Scottish holiday.

‘In fact not only is he not very ill, he is actually in fine form and is recovering well from his recent hip operation.’

Buckingham Palace has declined to comment.
