Laura Byrne has finally unleashed her fury on Georgia Love, the woman who broke the new mum’s now-fiance Matty J‘s heart on the Bachelorette Australia

Speaking on her Life Uncut podcast on Wednesday, Laura laid into Georgia for posting an abusive tweet about this year’s Bachelor, Matt Agnew

Laura’s beef with Georgia came to a head after the Melbourne-based presenter posted a controversial tweet immediately after Bachie Matt eliminated fan favourite Elly Miles last week.

“F*** YOU MATT. Don’t @ me,” Georgia tweeted.

The tweet was too much for Laura to handle, who called out her fellow Bachelor alum for setting a bad example to fans on her podcast, which she co-hosts with Brittany Hockley.

“The fact that Georgia Love had said this really grind my gears,” she said.

“My issue with it didn’t so much come from, [that Georgia is] offering criticism. It’s totally OK to not be an Abbie [Chatfield] fan and to be upset that your favourite character is going home. However, language is really, really important.

“She didn’t say, ‘Hey, this isn’t cool’. She chose to use obscenities and basically verbally abused Matt for his choices.

“It also then validates anybody else who wants to sling abuse at [Matt Agnew], which is just not the example that [previous reality stars] should be setting when we have been in that position before.”

Speaking about the backlash Georgia received when she sent home fan favourite, firefighter Cameron Cranley on The Bachelorette in 2016, Laura said she was being a hypocrite.

“As much as I do question Matt’s decisions in keeping Abbie on the show, I still think it’s a bit of a situation where it’s ‘pot calling kettle’.

“I just think as a journalist and someone who really understands the power of language, I expected more than that [from Georgia],” Laura said.

It’s long been rumoured that Bachelor alum Laura and Georgia (who recently got engaged to Lee Elliot whom she met on the Bachelorette) are far from friends, but this is the first time either of them have spoken out.

Georgia’s tweet also garnered backlash on the social media platform, which she responded to in another tweet, saying her comments were “tongue in cheek” and that she understands sending fan faves home, as she did that too.
