Secrets of Kate Middleton’s childbirth team

And what they have to give up

Prince William and Kate Middleton are expecting their third child any day now, and the royal couple have selectively hand-picked a team of 20 medical professionals who will be there to help on the big day.

But, there are strict rules in place for those who will be in the delivery room.

Professor Tiong Ghee Teoh who was a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist on the team that delivered Charlotte, has lifted the lid on what the job entailed.

The team reportedly consisted of, two obstetricians, three midwives, three anesthesiologists, four surgical staff members, two special care staffers, four pediatrician, one lab technician for blood tests and three or four managers.

‘We had a huge team,’ Tiong told People. ‘Anything could possibly go wrong, we had a team of people behind each specialty.’

The team were also sworn to secrecy and had to give up a few lifestyle habits, including being on call for three months before the birth and giving up that glass of wine or beer.

‘You never know when you need to be called,’ Dr Johanna Bray, an anaesthesiologist who was also at Charlotte’s birth, told People. ‘If you are at a party, you need to have your car keys at the ready. No drinking!’
