They endured an infamously rocky marriage, fraught with lies, deceit and scandals. But now, Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana’s relationship has been blown apart by a shocking new revelation.
New Idea has learned that vicious rumours are swirling about a secret relationship between Charles’ brother Prince Andrew and Diana around the time she was pregnant with William.
In a new documentary The Diana Story, the Spencer family’s former housekeeper Betty Andrews reveals: “We thought she would be with Prince Andrew.”
Prince Andrew was much closer in age to Diana and was known for his “dashing good looks”, which was said to infuriate Charles.
While there is absolutely no basis to the affair speculation, and it’s quite clear the story is a complete fabrication, the bad publicity couldn’t have come at a worse time for the palace.
“With all the furore surrounding Meghan and Kate’s secret feud and all the drama with Meghan, the last thing they need is another scandal – especially one of this magnitude,” continues the insider.
Last week New Idea reported on how the palace had been turned upside down since the Duchess of Sussex joined.
The Firm, with sources stating that Meghan and Harry’s shock move to Frogmore House in Windsor was a clear indication that all is not well between the ‘Fab Four’.
The reports prompted Kensington Palace to issue a rare statement after reports in The Sun claimed the Duchess of Cambridge got upset with the former Suits star over how she spoke to Kate’s staff.
“This never happened,” the spokesman said.
But now a new report from respected Vanity Fair reporter Katie Nicholl claims that tensions are at an all-time high between the royal couples after William and Harry had a falling out last Christmas, with Harry accusing his brother of not making enough effort with his then-fiancee Meghan.
“Harry felt William wasn’t rolling out the red carpet for Meghan and told him so,” a source told Vanity Fair.
“They had a bit of a fall-out which was only resolved when Charles stepped in and asked William to make an effort. That’s when the Cambridges invited the Sussexes to spend Christmas with them,” the insider explained.
