The Network have formally announced that the 69-year-old royal will be involved in a special challenge for hopeful chefs.

‘It is not only an enormous privilege and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cook for His Royal Highness’s reception, but a challenge, too,’ judge Gary Mehigan said.

Gary added that Prince Charles’ advocacy for sustainability will be incorporated into the challenge, with contestants making meals from locally-sourced ingredients.

‘The Prince Of Wales has always been an advocate for the environment and sustainability,’ Gary said. ‘He is well-known as a supporter of local producers and locally sourced produce.’

He added, ‘With this in mind, the challenge for our contestants is to respect and reflect his philosophy and use native ingredients along with other locally-sourced ingredients.’
