And while the latest regal offering centres on Queen Elizabeth’s struggle to satisfy a dissatisfied post-war nation, Prince Charles’ coming-of-age story will also be documented.

Charles, who is coming to terms with his role as the future King of England, struggles to find a balance between his royal duties and his personal life with Camilla Parker-Bowles.

During the tense promo, Charles, played by Josh O’Connor, is seen having a heated conversation with his mother Queen Elizabeth II, played by Olivia Coleman.

“Am I listened to in this family? Am I seen for who and what I am? No,” Charles says to his mother, who appears unimpressed by her firstborn’s assertive comments.

A follow-up clip shows Charles calling on the advice of a royal insider, who advises him to follow his heart and not succumb to the pressures of his regal bloodline.

“If I could give you two pieces of advice: Never turn your back on true love, and watch out for your family,” the insider states.

As the royal confidante issues her words of caution, a clip of a young Camilla Parker-Bowles having a ciggie in the bath pops up on the screen.

When Charles responds, “They mean well,” he’s firmly told, “No, they don’t.”

The promo also focuses on the mounting tensions between Queen Elizabeth and her younger sister Princess Margaret, played by Helena Bonham-Carter.

“Frustrations and resentments can build up from a life as a support act,” Margaret says, before a clip shows her slamming down her cutlery at a formal dinner.

The video concludes with Queen Elizabeth reiterating how everyone in the royal family has their own unique role to play in governing the country.

“We have all made sacrifices and suppressed who we are, it is not a choice – it is a duty,’ she says.

The Crown Season 3 launches globally on Sunday, November 17.
