Royal news: Furious Sarah Ferguson goes head-to-head with Meghan Markle

The two duchesses are now locked in competition

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has many royal battles behind her, and now she’s got another one: she’s about to go head to head with Meghan Markle. Indeed, the royal is said to be peeved that her status as the royal family’s most feted children’s author may now be under threat by American newcomer Meghan’s just-announced venture into kids’ publishing.

Fergie has confirmed she is writing a new children’s book, while the Duchess of Sussex is also doing the same – with the former actress’ effort based on the lives of her rescue dogs.

In contrast, Fergie – who has many kids’ books under her belt, including the famous Budgie The Little Helicopter series – will be penning a guide book on ‘the importance of kindness, protecting the planet and managing social media and cyber bullying,’ reports the Daily Mail.

Meghan’s foray into publishing comes amid her rising stocks in the royal family, and reports she’s particularly favoured by the Queen. In contrast, Fergie has only relatively recently been invited back into the royal fold after years in the wilderness

Sarah is serious about outdoing her royal rival, enlisting the help of Hotel Babylon author Imogen Edwards-Jones to help her with writing duties.

‘Imogen is one of the quickest-witted people I know,’ Ferguson told the paper. ‘Every moment with such a clever lady is a jump into joy and creativity, and I am so lucky to have a friend like her. I am excited about the future working with Imogen, as her writing is, for me, superb.’

Despite a string of scandals and disgraces in her past, it seems that Fergie believes she’s perfectly placed to give advice, feeling she’s aced at least one thing in life.

‘I believe in example by leadership,’ he told the Daily Mail.

‘I think the one thing I’ve done incredibly well — although I say it myself — is that I’m a really good mum. I think that my girls show that.’

Insiders say that although there is no personal animosity between the royal women, a peeved Fergie is determined that her writing career won’t be overshadowed by anyone.

May the best book win!
