Our favourite Aussie soap opera Home and Away gained another resident hottie last year. Enter Jake Ryan, who plays the mysterious Robbo in the series.
What is it about mysterious heartthrobs and why are they so often shady? I mean, case in point, Robbo shows up out of thin air not even knowing what his real name is, sweeps Kat (the local police woman), off her feet, and shakes up the whole storyline over at the Bay.
Robbo on Home and Away
Jake Ryan made his first appearance as Robbo in Home and Away on July 25, 2017. The story starts with Robbo ambushing Alf Stewart, Scarlett Snow, and Justin Morgan while the group is out fishing.
The boating trip quickly turns into an impromptu camping trip when their boat fails to start thanks to Robbo’s semi-pro hotwiring skills. The following morning, Robbo hides in the boat and sneaks his way in to Summer Bay, hurting Alf and stealing his knife in the process.
After getting caught stealing food from the Pier Diner and hiding back in the boat, Robbo follows Alf back to the house, returns his knife, and confesses that he does not know who in the devil he is. It is all a whirlwind from here – everyone finds out he is suffering from post-traumatic amnesia; the nurses name him “Robbo” (after Robinson Crusoe).
He and Kat fall in love only to have their budding relationship shattered when they discover he is actually a hitman named Beckitt Reid – sent to assassinate Kat! Tragically, Kat who is pregnant, is killed in a horrific car accident and dies.
Of course, in true complicated bad boy fashion, Robbo has his shining moments. From saving Raffy Morisson from Mackenzie to helping Coco Astoni when she faints at the beach, Robbo knows exactly what to do to get you hooked without even trying. In an interview with Karlie Rutherford for news.com.au, Ryan jokingly comments on his badass heartthrob role saying, “sometimes these bad boy characters can work in your favour and maybe no one will like me.”
Tough luck, Jake. Your buff bod, cropped hair, and bad boy yet good heart attitude had the ladies falling for you in no time.
