In what was one of the most touching episodes of House Rules in its six-year history, there wasn’t a dry eye around the country when homeowners Graham and Mary entered their new home.
When the Sydney couple walked into their newly renovated home after it was decimated by fire last year, even host Joh Griggs couldn’t contain her emotions.
Upon entry, there are immediate tears from the host, the couple and their two daughters.
“Oh wow. It’s amazing – it’s a different home,” Graham says.
Once they’ve checked out the house, Joh lets Graham and Mary know that the HR team have also fitted the home with a state-of-the-art alarm system as well as fire alarms throughout the house.
But that’s not all, Allianz insurance has also given them 12 months of home and contents insurance and Origin Energy has offered to pay for their power bill for 12 months as well.
Before they leave Graham asks to look into the camera so that he can give the House Rules contestants one last thanks.
“We’re not owed anything in life,” he says through tears.
“And for everyone to go out of their way and do this for us means a lot for us and the family and it’s put us back to better than we were before. So, to everyone who was involved thank you, to all the teams, the neighbours, our family, Channel Seven, House Rules, thank you very much it means a lot to us”.
