She’s been absent from the Bay for some time, but Sophie Don is back as Dempsey this week. And she wastes no time dropping a massive bombshell on Mason (Orpheus Pledger) – she’s expecting his child!
‘This is not an easy conversation for anyone who wasn’t planning on getting pregnant, let alone when it’s with someone you barely know,’ says Sophie. ‘Dempsey may not look like she’s completely freaking out, but this is an incredibly vulnerable moment for her – especially because she has no idea how Mason is going to react.’
For Sophie, the returning storyline was one she couldn’t have been more excited about.
‘As an actor, it’s always interesting to be the person at the centre of the drama,’ she says, adding with a laugh: ‘I’m also grateful I’ve never had to have this conversation myself!
I don’t know if I would have been as calm.
‘But I recognise that this is something many women have to face. I really wanted to try and tell Dempsey’s story as truthfully as I could.’
But the question remains, what will Mason say when he finds out the big news?
