They seem perfect for each other, but this week Ziggy and Dean (Patrick O’Connor) hit another major stumbling block in their relationship.

And as Ziggy’s portrayer, Sophie Dillman, indicates, it’s a hurdle that may prove difficult for the couple to successfully overcome.

“Relationships are tough – they are complicated and require continuous work,” says Sophie. “Ziggy and Dean are learning how to do life together.”

Indeed, having last week been offered a dream career opportunity that would see her temporarily leaving the Bay – but potentially put her relationship with Dean in jeopardy – Ziggy now feels understandably conflicted.

When Dean now tells Ziggy he doesn’t want her to accept the out-of-town trial as a mechanic for a pit crew team – he wants her to stay in Summer Bay – she readily agrees.

However, Dean is left guilt-ridden. And he feels worse still when Maggie (Kestie Morassi) later gives him a piece of her mind, making it clear that she thinks he is being selfish.

After thinking things through, and overhearing Ben (Rohan Nichol) discuss the job trial with Ziggy, Dean has a change of heart and urges his girlfriend to jump at the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. She simply has to grab it, he says.

Before long, Ziggy is kissing Dean goodbye. But we soon see that Ziggy’s ‘dream’ gig is far more challenging than she had imagined.

Missing Dean desperately, as she struggles to deal with the pressures on the racetrack, Ziggy is frustrated and upset when she and Dean play continuous phone-tag.

But when Dean decides to pay his girlfriend a surprise visit at the track, her reaction takes him completely by surprise. What does Ziggy do?

“Is the honeymoon period for Ziggy and Dean?” hints Sophie.
